I sell and so far, I've only had good experiences. Just remember to set up a paypal account if you decide to start selling and when you list something, start the bidding price at the least amount you'd be willing to accept for the item or set a reserve price. You can also look up similar items to see what they're selling for. Then, you could kind of know what to expect.

Ebay has been very good to me. One of the reasons for success of Ebay is how well known they are so there's no advertising costs for one-time ads and you reach far more people than a newspaper ad that only reaches a certain audience for one day. On the down side you are paying more and more for listing fees and final value fees with listing fees required whether the item sells or not. I would have to really love a painting to buy it for $700 but there may be people out there wanting it so badly they will pay $1,000 or $10,000 for it. Ebay has millions of users but not everyone on Ebay is looking for your painting. Make sure you have excellent professional images and write the ad with complete honesty. I have bought a painting several years ago that is one of my most prized possessions. I paid $40 for it. Make sure you know the value of the painting because you may get far more than $700 ... or far less.

Yes. I sell on there. My experiences have been mostly smooth and pleasant. If you have a certain amount you want for the painting, you can sell it with that amount as a "buy it now". Or, you can sell it at a fixed price. Do some research first to see if this is your best option for selling your painting though. Some things sell for less than they would normally be worth, and some sell for more than they would normally be worth.
