if you have a friend who is having a bad day, make them a Happy Tuesday card. I doesn't matter what it's made of, could even be loo roll. It really is the thought that counts. I have done this many times and it has never failed to raise a smile!
I had a friend who had done a lot for me but I couldn't afford a birthday present for her. So I asked her if I could have the key to her flat on the pretence that I needed a little "me time" away from my own house. She worked a lot of hours in the week and never seemed to have time to tidy up. The flat had got in a proper state, so I did all her tidying up for her, the washing up and her laundry, and and made some food and put it in the fridge for her when she got in from work.
I took great pleasure in being able to do something nice for her and she said she had a tear in her eye when she came home and found the place like that!

My husband is the random acts of kindness MASTER!!!

I admit I'm pretty oblivious to others as I fumble around in the world, but he notices everything. He stops to help everyone, no matter how late we are.
He'll buy lunch for people that are holding signs on the corner, help a woman with small children load groceries into her car, help carry heavy items out or into the houses of all of our neighbors, stuff like that....every single day.

I did read about a really cool one that I haven't tried yet: Take some single bills (like 5 of them) and write an inspirational quote on them. Then take the bills to the store with a glue stick and sneakily glue them onto the back of random items in the store. The one I liked the most was a box of diapers. Then leave the store immediatly, don't stay to watch their reaction 'cause that's not as cool.

To me a random act of kindness is the unexpected ones, taking the time to listen to the elderly lady behind you in the supermarket checkout, maybe your the only person she`s spoken to all week.Making someone know that they`re loved when they feel the worlds against them.Put little notes in your kids lunch boxes to tell them how special they are and how much you love them.Cleaning your daughters house before she comes back from holiday. The biggest act of kindness tho for me,was getting a card from my youngest daughter this year to say "How do you fancy becoming a nanny for your birthday"?Its my first grandchild and shes due on sunday. To finish just to give people some of your time is the kindest thing. So go on give me a smilexxxx

Oli, you ask the nicest questions.

Being my authentic self is a gift of kindness to others and to myself. It means never being fake or judgmental or dishonest. It means doing the right thing in a situation and apologizing, or acknowledging the other person, if I missed the mark. It means making a decision to be the best me I can whenever I leave my sanctuary of home. It means being kind and courteous to others, smiling and saying "Hi" in a culture that isn't so friendly to maybe help people learn not to be so afraid of a stranger walking down the street. It means waving a thank you to a person in another car who let me go first during rush hour and it means that I am that person who lets others go first as well.

It is walking in love and sharing it with all people. (Now if I could only do that ALL the time!)

Peace.

Pay for the order of the person behind you at a drive thru window like Dunkin Donuts.

Put some homebaked cookies in the mailbox for the postal carrier.

Rake a neighbor's yard when they are out.

Compliment a stranger when you think they look nice.

The nicest act I heard about was when a elderly woman at the checkout in the supermarket paid for the shopping of the young mum in front her. The young mum was struggling with a screaming toddler. The older woman told her that once when she was in the same situation a stranger paid for her groceries.

Well I carried an old ladies suitcase up a flight of stairs at Kings Cross rail station last night, after many watched her struggle with it..... she must have been in her 80's, lovely old dear.

I'm not sure if that is a huge act of kindness, to her it probably was, to me I was just doing what any other decent human being would have done.

And babysitting my tearaway twin nieces is truly an act of kindness by me.... if you knew them you would understand.

A few days ago while I was at the pharmacy picking up some prescriptions for my Dad(he has Parkinson's),one of my neighbors, came in ,needing some medication that her Dr. had prescribed for her.She didn't have enough money to pay for it and they weren't going to give it to her,so I just reached into my pocket and paid for it.It was only a few dollars, but the look of relief on her face was priceless. She offered to pay me back, but I told her to forget about it and hoped she felt better.I know I did.SO!-other things to do -cook dinner for someone who lives alone and eats only frozen dinners;put flowers on neglected graves at cemeteries;water your neighbors wilted flowers;send cards to lonely people and write "Somebody loves you"on them;bake some cookies for your brother, even when he's being a big jerk;feed a stray cat;have pizza delivered to someone with a lot of kids and no time to cook-and don't forget to leave a saucer of milk out for the hedgehogs.......
