I'm a senior right now and hoping to get my BS in Biology and later go to Pharmacy school. But its been stressing me that a lot of people want to become pharmacists.

Is the field filling up and will I have to face a lot of competition now?
Please help!!

Actually, you could not have picked a better career. Did you know that there is a shortage of pharmacists? Yes, big time. Your future job is so set. I know that most start at a yearly salary of 100,00 dollars a year. Stop worrying, if you make it that far, your life financially, is set.

No, there is still a large shortage. The number of part timers in pharmacy is rather high. It is hard to get into pharmacy. Most colleges have an acceptance ratio of about 1:10. Good luck. You can try to apply to guaranteed acceptance programs or 0+6.

ARE you kidding? All the chains are looking for pharmacists and starting them off at $80,000 plus. Aging population in this country and increased need for prescription drugs for the old folks is creating the demand. Only drawback I can see is that you will need to carry malpractice insurance which won't be cheap. Go for it and good luck. I have my BS in Bio but if I wasn't old and retired, I'd go into the profession. Go for it and good luck!

Well first of a lawyer pays very well. A pharmacist is fast and easy to become one and it does pay pretty well. A lawyer would deffinetly let you live a good lifestyle, but remember choose a job you will enjoy going to work everyday! (:

Honestly I don't know about Pharmacists, but it seems like EVERY other job is for Pharmaceutical Sales reps, so I would think one would naturally follow the other, Yes?

the shortage is still acute nationally. And there is a huge wave of retiree RPh's in the next five years. The only competition is getting accepted. Once you get your license you can write your own ticket.
