Good observation but personally i think it can be a display of patriotism but cannot be the reason for his ton.
For the reason - as Sachin himself said at the ceremony was the brief given to him - to stay at the crease till the end. The century automatically followed.

I do not think that has helped him. What was instrumental for his success is his determination and courage to face the challenge in fron of him to perform and he has done it in great style
