What is the best place to get one? This is a gift for my girlfriend who is only 5 feet tall. does this matter? I want this to be a total surprie so I cannot ask her too many questions. She does already play rather well. Advice would be great. Thanks.

Yes in many models.

Currently the demand for right-handed instruments far outdistances that of left-handed models. Since left handed models require a complete re-tooling of our production line it should be impractical for us to devote equal amounts of resources to producing both varieties. There are several regular production lefty models and many may be special ordered. Please contact an authorized dealer if you are interested in ordering a left-handed model. If you are outside of the US, you can locate your country’s distributor online by clicking here.http://www.gibson.com/Search/Dealer%20Search/International%20Distributors/

Unless you know the EXACT model she wants, do NOT buy her a guitar. This is very risky and could put her in an unfortunate place if she doesn't like it. A gift certificate purchased at a guitar shop that deals in the brand/model she's interested in is the way to go.

If you want her to remember you for the rest of her life ... buy her a Martin.... Gibson Acoustic are OK if you want a warm and fuzzy James Taylor sound.... but people never sell their first Martin. (and, no... I don't sell them)
