I was using a can of precad lacquer, did not cover over my furniture.
I got overpray now and need help removing it without removing the lacquer off of the furniture.

Would it help to try to wax off the overspray? or should I try goof off?

Or is there another item I can use to get it off of pre finished wood?

The other areas hit with overspray are wood that have dark stain and finished with lacquer
(somehow the stuff I am using really traveled) usually if it is a unlacquered hard surface I can use Acetone, but it will remove the original finish as well.

try buffing lightly with a very fine(0000)steelwool (which you should be doing between coats anyway)...I am not sure I understand what you did...the prefinished wood does not have lacquer on it as a finish does it? If you use lacquer thinner it will(of course) remove the lacquer BUT it may remove the other finish as well. I need more info..if the steelwool does not do it.

You did not say whether or not the over- spray is on wood or fabric. The safest consideration would be to return to the paint store where you bought the pre-cat lacquer and explain the mistake and ask for their suggestions. I don't think that wax will help unless you are shaving the over- spray off of the furniture.
