After spending my life counting calories, I'd ask for a triple cheeseburger, french fries, strawberry shake and cheesecake.
Hell, why not? Even if I've never smoked, I'd ask for a pack of cigarettes too!

Wonderful and thought provoking question! Not really sure and never having been there........I wrote this a few years ago. This is just a poem, but based on your question I think this may solidify someone's thinking that is about to be excecuted.
DEATH ROW
"This is pure speculation."
Blocks and bars surround me,
in this small 5x7.
Peering out a hole,
to catch a glimpse of heaven.
I watch a cloud go floating by,
within a stony frame.
Sargent calling out for mail,
I hear him yell my name.
A letter from someone,
that still recalls my life.
When I was a better person,
not causing so much strife.
Reading every line,
I cling to each word.
Hoping for some mention,
of something that I heard.
Of how my children are,
and how the wife might be.
Of Mom and Dad and all the rest,
and those that I can't see.
Cast into this dungeon,
no one to blame but me.
I can't believe the loneliness,
brought upon myself.
I pace the steps no more then twelve,
Hit the wall and cry,
Remembering that they put me here,
for what I did I'll die.
Moving to a holding cell,
larger than this place.
Freely moving about,
the Feds they house me well.
Two more feet of walking space,
I'm counting down the days.
You think I have it great,
letting me lift some weight.
Nothing can compare,
to all I had out there.
Regret will do no good,
I repent for what I should.
Meeting God will show me,
my most sinful way.
Getting some religion,
is all I know to do.
They asked that silly question,
what would you like to eat.
All that I could think of,
is the smell of pickled beats.
Mama used to serve them,
on every Holiday.
I remember the taste of soil,
dirt and that odor.
I asked to have my Mama,
bring a hefty bowl.
Tell her that I need to feel,
that taste before I go.
I hear them coming for me,
they shackle me in irons.
Escorting me down a path,
removing me from your harm.
They held my trembling body,
beneath their official arm.
Tin soldiers march beside me,
in silent somber form.
A bed made of steel,
I climb to take a rest.
Strapping me in belts,
that tighten on my breast.
I close my eyes and dreamed,
of when I was a boy.
When Mama hollered at me,
have you done your chore.
I whispered that I had,
remembering my first lie.
That nothing I had done,
had ever been half right.
Somewhere in the distance,
the Lord he laid me down.
In pastures much more greener,
then any I had found.
I drifted into darkness,
no light did appear.
God didn't come to me,
as I had always feared.
Death was nothing like,
for those that are saved.
I felt the impending torture,
of the Devil's blade.

That I may be allowed to put a secret note inside a bottle and throw it into the ocean. It wouldn't say anything special. It would be just to mess with them.
