i seriously think that if white ppl had a tv station
that is somthin like this>> WET
WET= white entertainment telivison
black ppl would call us raceist....
i watch BET i love rap and most of the rap artists..i love R&b ...i love hip-hop. i like country too. but why can blk ppl have that , and white ppl created somthihng similar..wed automatically be raceist!

the same reason there is:
ESPN - channel dedicated for sports fans
CNN - a channel specializing in news
Cartoon Network - channel dedicated to cartoons
CMT - channel for country and western music
BET - channel catering to programming African Americans enjoy
UNIvision - channel catering to programming Spanish speaking Americans enjoy
I could go on.....BTW Viacom own BET.

No not at all.
You see you must understand that organizations like Black Ent. Telelvision, the NAACP and even affirmative action are in existence because Blacks are a minority in this part of the world, i.e. North America, and are continously underrepresented.
If you were to peruse satellite television you will see that there are speacialty channels of all kinds where ppl of different cultures, musical genres and ethnicity find it beneficial and even necessary to have their own channels, radio shows etc where they are reflected.
Such channels as BET, Telelatino, Spanish MTV and CNN are there because we are underrepresented in mainstream television. It has to do with a positive acknowledgement where we know (Black ppl) that we are not the anomoly and innate "bad" ppl that we have been deemed to be by our White (former owners since slavery). Until then we will continue to have a BET.

I am black.I also think we should do away with any form of racism, whether "subtle" or "serious"...
Surely black people would call your ideal "WET" station "racist" because racism, by history was established mostly by whites.
It is strange that we Black people hated it when racism was practiced on us but we are so easy to be racist to white people!Let the truth be spoken...
On the other hand, the reason why black programmes were launched, was to enhance the self-esteem of a black people...that their music, movies and other things should be known as most white companies would not give them an opportunity in their companies.Many black people had been demoralized by white racist encounters.
But NOW I think it is about time we do away with any form of racism...
Those days are coming anyway...the days of "choose between JESUS and SATAN" and no longer between black and white...
In those days, I will choose Jesus...for He died for every race even though He was Jew.

Honey,solve the problem if you like it join it! Dont attack it! IT could evolve into something different. Black enterprises are developed because we arent included and represented in the way that we think we should be. Life is short - so we cant spend ours waiting for the mass media to decide to represent our interests as well. We did wait and did fight for many years to be included but it falls on deaf ears. Black enterpreneurs looked at our market and saw that we have an annual income of more than 400 billion which isnt too shabby - so they went for it.

It is just specialized television, and it does cater to the interests and talents of Black people. Whites still dominate, and so do men in some ways. Lifetime is "television for women". Same kind of thing, but there is nothing put out there unless there is a market for it. That is the real reason! How many Blacks do you see on CMT??

Ya know.... it is a crying shame when people are one sided and you have touched on a subject that is unpopular but terribly TRUE.
The White Entertainment Television that once operated and showed only white people was MTV. They got sued for not showing black entertainers videos.
Did you know that?
I have many friends who are considered African American and I have a black friend that I have known for almost thirty years who lived with me on a half dozen occasions.... even he said the same thing.... that society is one sided and that mostly the blacks get offended if they are not recognized.

It doesn't bother me that BET exists, but I think it exists because white people for the most part don't cry over every little thing. If there were a channel that was called White Entertainment Television, there would be a riot in the streets.

For the same reason our county has a Miss Franklin County beauty pageant (not real name of county) and a Miss Black Franklin County beauty pageant. Now if we tried to have a Miss White Franklin County beauty pageant (which we don't because we don't want Jessie Jackson to show up) there would be NAACP folks raising h*e*l*l all over town. Just one more example of reverse discrimination.
