Was on the news today. Layaway at Walmart will be gone by the end of the year.

I just read the news and I am shocked! It will make it hard on alot of low income people, especially in the rural area I live in. From what I read layaway will end for all stores.

Walmart just shot itself in the foot, big time. I don't think it's socially irresponsible to shop at Walmart. Communities that don't want them there should rally their leaders to stop them.

I'm personally kind of bummed, since I've always done all my Christmas shopping by putting it all on layaway at once.

However, our local Walmart's manager assaulted me a few weeks back, and my kids are scared to death of Walmart after witnessing that, so I don't guess I was going to be shopping there again, anyway. Sad, though... layaway is kind of a cool idea.

Well Walmart is cheap so anything I buy out of there I can afford and don't need to put it in layaway so it doesn't bother me.

I didn't realize they no longer had it. It's a shame for many people who are only able to buy their kids school clothes using this method. My bigger concern with Walmart has been how they used to have "greeters" but now they are "friskers," as I call them. Those folks at the front door used to face out and say hello and offer you a buggy (and a smiley sticker for children.)
Now they face inward as if they are guarding the door and ask to see your receipt as you exit the store. They glance up and down the receipt, glance over your buggy, give you the once over and then nod you on your way as if to say, "Well, everything's in order THIS TIME." It's a heck of a long way from "Welcome to Walmart" to THAT! What a concept.

Well so much for getting Little TImmy and the other orphans those toys on an affordable plan. Looks like they'll have to share this coloring book between the 20 of them. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Walmart is horrible, so you should take this oppertunity to find a better place to shop. They hurt local buisnesses, the economy as a whole, and treat their workers like ****. It is social irresponible to shop at walmart.

that stinks!!!!!!!

I put a computer on lay away once--and got it out right away,

and once I put a printer/copier/scanner on lay away and got it out right away too.

Well, I guess I will shop on line this year....I rarely
put anything on lay away but it's the principal of the
matter!

I know people who buy their children's Christmas presents that way................
Wal Mart is sorry for doing that!!
