Whatever the state is put the state and then the department of corrections (you can use yahoo or google). It'll give you the web address and make sure that it has .gov at the end so you'll know it's official. Then at the homepage choose offender search and then type in the appropriate information. It'll also have links to the prison and the address and mailing address for inmates. My boyfriend just got out and I wrote him and checked up on his updated information on a regular faithfully. Trust me I know, just do this and you'll find the info. you're looking for. Good luck.

It all depends on what your state's law is regarding inmate information. Go to your county government's website. There may be information listed under the Sheriff's page.

by typing in Missouri(or whatever state they are doing time) department of corrections in a google search and you can get links to addresses and phone numbers and even DOC numbers( a prisoners identifying number)
