Because they are both the dominant figures in their respective sport, they are often compared to each other, they were both eager to meet and Tiger Woods accepted the invitation from Roger Federer to go and see him play. It would have been very rude of Woods to accept the invitation and then go rooting for somebody else. That doesn't mean he doesn't love his country or fellow countrymen.

Because they are the best in their respective sports and there is a camaraderie among them. Also, I think they like each other. It has little to do with nationality but I don't pick my friends by their nationality either.
