It is possible to get pregnant when on your period, but very rare. First of all, your period is usually over about a week before you ovulate, and you can only get pregnant by having sex from 5 days before to one day after you ovulate. Some women do ovulate during their period, and they usually have a VERY hard time getting pregnant. With a normal 28 day cycle, ovulation USUALLY occurs on the 14th day, with day one being the day you started. My cycles were 26 days on average, and I ovulated on day 14.
Bottom line is the answer is yes, you could get pregnant, but it is very unlikely.

Yes. The human body is very adaptive to change, and since a woman's body, biologically speaking, wants to propagate the species, her body will make adjustments.
The signals received in the female brain due to sex will alter the ovulation phase to coincide with intercourse. Thus the "rhythm method", avoiding unprotected sex just before or just after ovulation, will ultimately fail.
