I heard of an experiment once where scientists mashed up slugs who had learned to navigate a maze and fed them to slugs who hadn't seen the maze and those slugs learned the maze faster than the ones before them. According to that research you should find smart children and mash them up and feed them to your child.
Or, more seriously, toys that allow kids to use their imagination and or exerize their hand-eye co-ordination. Blocks and lego like things, imaginative simple toys that have more than one use, puzzles or things like that - which I heartily reccomend for girls too. Babies at that age often love things like cardboard boxes (heck who doesnt!) which can be a car, a house, a spaceship etc.
So yeh, you're likely to find certain toys are good for kids but generally they won't make him smart - they'll just help.

You can't just leave it up to a toy to make your child smart. What ever toy u decided to purchase, remember u have to work with them to understand the concept of the game.

Anything like books or blocks. Books help him talk & repeat the words you are saying. I would get a very simple book. Like one that has a picture of a truck & the word says truck. He hears you say it & he'll repeat it. Blocks help with his motor skills...& they are just fun...good luck :-)
