Hummm surviving college. You are talking to a gal who has been going to college all her life. So, I certainly feel qualified to answer! Hmm surviving a class that you hate... Focus on the big picture. Know that this is something you have to live thru to achieve your goal. If the instructor is an idiot, so what. Play the game. Give him/her the answers they want on the tests and papers and those answers are usually right there in your lecture notes.
Register for your classes as early as you can to avoid long hours in line and risk not getting the classes that you want or need. Check out the used books before you drop a whole wad of cash for the books that you need.
Study hard. Remember that you pass this way but once! (hopefully!)

Well if you drop it and take it during a summer/winter class it goes by ALOT faster and is not nearly as painful. Cause after a month you are done. If tutoring services are offered, take those. Reading textbooks are a must, sometimes more important that attending lectures. Make friends with someone in class so you can hang out and study together, and have someone to complain with. It really helps to do study groups, and go through any study guides they offer as soon as possible so you can ask questions. Use office hours, sometimes if the instructor sees you alot and you are on borderline grades, he'll give it too you cause you were trying. I once sat down with the instructor, he highlighted sections in my textbook, and it ended up being exactly what was on the test. All depends on the instructor. Study a little bit each day instead of alot night before, get plenty of rest, and eat well. Starbucks works wonders too. Avoid bringing laptops to class, because you will be tempted to surf the internet in class or talk online...trust me.
P.S. When you are allowed to chose topics for essays or projects, chose something you love! I love movies, so that is what i wrote papers about. It makes the researching alot easier to deal with.

If the college class doesn't require class participation, then just don't go. Get a friend to get the assignments/handouts for you and drop off completed assignments. Go to (another?) friend to photocopy the class notes.
If class participation is required, consider transfering to a different course. The prof is going to know that you hate the class.
The best way to study is to go alone, without an ipod or cell phone, to a very quiet library that is open long hours. Decide how much material you're going to cover, and don't leave the library until you've done it. Drinking coffee is a big help, but I'm afraid I'm going to get thumbs downs for this suggestion.

take notes quiz yourself on those notes, from that write down the facts your having trouble with study those repeat untill procesed. by writing down the facts your having trouble with your using 2 types of learning techniques and are more likely to have the facts stick. As for survival tips the classes just get harder as you go, just remember : the harder the classes the more money you will make when you have a degree. GOOD LUCK

When taking notes, always date the first page and Leave margins and write questions.
Before the next class, review the notes from the previous class, come up with questions, and preview the next chapter.
When reading the text, write down things that you have learned and write down things you don't understand and ask questions about them for the next class. Remember even genius's ask questions!
During a test, if there are multiple choice questions cover the answer and read the question and try to answer it before you look at the answers.

JUST hang in there. do your best. I had ben stein for a professor and my class was held 8 in the morning.
TIPS FOR STUDY: is if it is vocabulary write them in your computer that makes you look at them twice and it helps you remeber them more easly.
IF you can get a friend to help you study even if they do not take the class with you just have them make up some questions for you to answer.
Read the chapters the best you can.
IF you have to get some tutoring from your professor to help you uderstand the class better.
Well good luck to you.

Just think about where you will be when you finish college and the career you are working towards.
Join a study group and don't be afraid to talk to the professor. Go to their office hours and ask questions on anything you don't fully understand. Most professors enjoy the attention and it will allow them to put a face to a name, you become a person not just a student.

Ugh -- drop it if you can, maybe take it later with a different prof or time of day.
Study skills? Don't highlight the entire book. Take good notes... don't plagiarize!
Take vitamins and get plenty of rest when you can.

Meet with the professor who teaches the class. It will make it more personal - maybe more bearable and they are a great resource.
