You may want to expand this question alittle. The genre "heavy metal" has changed from its indoctrination. Bands like Motley Crue,Poison,Guns and Roses, and Metallica were called heavy metal in the 80's; now they'er "classic rock". New bands like Lamb of God, Him, and System of the Down are "heavy metal", but its not quite the same music. Hell, in the 70's, bands like Black Sabbith and Alice Cooper were "heavy metal".

there are quite a few heavy metal bands...some of them are...lamb of god, slayer, children of bodom, fear factory, mudvayne, korn, hatebreed and many more
metallica is good to start with and u ,ight wanna check out light rock first and them jump to heavy metal...if u wanna know anything more let me know
