Call your state medical licensing board. I would guess that drug offenses would make things difficult, as would any assault or battery charges. You'll have to go before the character and fitness review board before you get licensed, so if you committed the crimes long ago when you were young, they may let it go, assuming you've kept your nose clean since then. In any case, you'll have a chance to explain your conduct to them before being granted a license to practice.
