Actually, "TammyLee," the NFL would dearly love to expand into Canada (and Mexico.) In Canada the worst problem is the Canadian government. They have very restrictive laws to protect the inept CFL that pretty much make NFL expansion up there impossible at the moment.

There is no doubt that there has always been a lot of interest from groups in Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto in bringing NFL teams to those cities, always sabotaged by the Canadian government. (Five of the CFL teams could never survive as NFL teams with such small markets: Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Hamilton.)

Mexico has three cities which could support NFL teams, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, but the fan base isn't there yet. (However, each year, little by little the popularity of NFL football is growing...)

(Imagine a Superbowl in 2021, Vancouver Orcas against the Mexico City Aztecas)

If it ever happened, Canada wouldn't be investing, the team ownership would do the investing along with approved help from the NFL and such. I could see the NFL expanding to as many as 36 teams and not miss a beat and I even have good ideas as to where the franchises should go and their nickmames!

1. The Montreal Mushers
2. The Mexico City Aztecs
3. The Los Angeles Lightning
4. The San Antonio Gunslingers (borrowed from old USFL name)

Even though Canada has the CFL, there may be a market for the NFL. The CFL tried to expand into the US in the mid '90s, so why not the NFL into Canada? And, most of the Canadian population is within 100 miles of the US, so they may already be following the NFL.

Start with some exhibition games, then go from there. Or, how about a game between the Super Bowl winner and the Grey Cup winner? Then we could really see who is the "world champion".

Why? What's wrong with your football? By the way, one of your high school teams from Ontario came all the way down to our small Ohio town of Martins Ferry, and we crushed the hell outa yous!!!
We were up 55 - 0 at halftime.
My suggestion? Learn HOW to PLAY football first, THEN worry about an NFL franchise, K?

perhaps, but the NFL isn't looking to expand beyond the 32 teams that they have now. Even LA's huge market isn't getting an expansion team, instead they're planning for another team to move there.

NATIONAL Football Leage.... not INTERnational Football League.

Canada should look into pursuing another sport, not America's real favorite past time! AYE!
