I am currently living in the U.K. man, this place sux. The plumbing in England is useless, you cant flush the damn toilet without the right touch and your showers have no pressure what-so-ever. Your stores close at 5 p.m. and your bars close around 6. You serve warm beers, people don't know what a clothes dryer is, you don't have sweet baby ray's bbq sauce (WTF!?) All the boys here have highlighted spiked hair, tight pants, eyeliner, and green day hoodies. Your accent is total ****, not like the ones you hear on tv that are from London. Your teeth are horrid. Your cars are the ultra suck, you can't drive trucks or suvs there because your roads aren't wide enough to hold them. The weather is overcast every damn day, you don't see the sun at all. America was founded by people who hated the eurotrash way, and strived to be better so that's why America IS better. England is much older than America is, but America still dominates you. I"m moving back to America as soon as I'm done here.

Not sure if you are kidding and really are in England, or you just are extremely homesick and taking it out on the different culture you have happened to have found yourself living in to what you are used to. Iwas a little like that for the first 2 yrs when I moved from the UK to CA.
First off, the UK doesn't get that much rainfall...well not as much as most people believe. It drizzles alot, but always looks like it's going to rain...but actually compared to the northern US storms they have there, it really isn't all that much, it's just has a constant dampness in the air. Which is why the countryside is so green all year round.
If you look at studies the UK scores higher on teeth health than the US in the world, they just don't look as healthy because they don't bleach their teeth and drink alot of tea that stains teeth....but that doesn't make them unhealthy.
Don't know where you live, but get yourself out more...cos bars don't close at 6pm...and shops/stores in small towns do close at around 5.30 but no where in the uk is too far away from cities that have their stores open until alot later.
There are plenty of supermarkets too that are open 24 hrs now around the country.
Maybe you should move from the town you are in to somewhere a bit more fast paced, and giving it another go before throwing in the towel and going back to the US of only a bad experince to talk about. I'm sure your American friends and family would rather listen to your great life experience than a bad one, so make the most of it, and try to embrace the culture alittle... Life may be different from what you are used to, but I hope you were expecting that when you decided to move there. There are pros and cons I'm sure, but try to look at the pros more and you may actually get something out of it.
To start get yourself down the pub tonight and have a few drinks with some friends, and give the locals a chance.

Sounds like you need a night out.

Your plumbing sucks because you are obviously living in some kind of council shithole or something.

Yes of course most shops close around 5pm, how long do you want them to stay open? If you do want to shop later there are plenty of 24-hour supermarkets.

Bars do not close at 6pm, I don't know which ones you have been going to but you are simply wrong. Most pubs (even ones right out in the country) are open until around midnight, and there are bars in town and city centres actually open 24 hours a day.

I know what a clothes dryer is. Maybe your pronunciation makes you totally incomprehensible.

No we don't have 'sweet baby ray's BBQ sauce'. That's why we're not all so disgustingly obese. You'll find there are lots of other foods we don't have. If you want everything to be exactly the same as it is back home, why didn't you just stay at home?

If you're shocked about British culture and British people's accents you have only your own ignorance to blame, stupidly accepting the stereotypes without finding out the truth for yourself. I'm sure your accent is equally unbearable.

People don't drive trucks or SUVs because petrol costs more than twice as much as it does in the USA due to tax - the price we pay for living in a socialist society that actually cares about the poor and the sick. Road width has nothing to do with it.

As for the weather - there isn't a cloud in the sky where I am right now.

I'm glad you think America is better - hopefully it means you won't be staying here too long.

lets start with the rain: we had no rain in may, june or july so i guess it has to rain sometime! we just had the best summer in years so i can't complain about the weather!
next the vehicles we drive; why would we need such big ugly trucks and SUVs? you can drive from 1 end of our country to the other in less than 24 hurs so we don't need such big trucks and wide roads!
now our stores and bars; most stores close at about 10pm, most supermarkets are 24 hours. only clothes stores close at around 5pm but most towns will have a late shopping day for example in my town thursdays are late shopping days and all stores remain open until 9pm. it depends on the town and how much demand there is for it.
now toilets; every toilet i have ever used in uk flushes perfectly fine, even after the biggest crap!
the boys; you are right on this one, most boys are following this stupid hair trend and should all be kidnapped and forced to change their ways!
our accents; our accents are real unlike the ones you have heard on tv which are americans doing impressions of our accent. i'm sorry this disappoints you.
Now this should explain to you why our country is this way. What i want to know is where the hell in the UK are you living? it sounds really bad and should be flooded and turned into a place of beauty!

good for you, and stay there. By the way, "clothes dryer" is called a "tumble dryer" here, that's why people might be confused. Secondly, the accents across the UK vary greatly, and to say they "suck" shows little respect to the local and regional cultures of the UK. You show little appreciation of the differences between British and American culture, for example the fashion is different, and the UK doesn't have the 24-hour open for business culture, and most bars DO NOT close around 6, except prehaps on Sunday - that's a ridiculous overstatement. People in the UK generally don't drive absolutely massive cars, and the roads do happen to be wide enough for HGVs, except for narrow country lanes. If you are living in the middle of Dartmoor, that might be your problem.

It doesn't rain constantly, in fact British weather is very variable, with parts of the East of the UK being very dry. It is caused by our maritime location, where the prevailing winds blow warm, moist air carried to our location by the North Atlantic Drift. Without it, the UK (which btw has the same latitude as south Canada) would be far colder, dryer and have longer winters, and would therefore be unable to have the greenery and deciduous woodland the British Isles is known for.

If you can't except and intergrate with other cultures, you should just stay where you're used to, but I think it's sad that you can only look at the differences in culture in a negative way. And America wasn't founded by people who hated Eurotrash, as the term, and its associations didn't exist. I was led to believe it was more to do with religious persecution...

well, i don't know why you went there in the first place, then. didn't you know england was famous for rain and bad teeth? i love england. i went last new years and it was a dream come true. had been waiting for 17.5 long years. i adore the rain and grey clouds. i guess God made a place on earth for us that love that weather, so you can keep the hot sunshine. the english are so nice i could hardly stand it. all i could do was smile big because they were so friendly. i love the accents. who really needs suv's anyway. their lifestyle doesn't really call for them. i had no problem with the plumbing. there's more to life than food, though there was nothing wrong with the food there. i like the spiked hair and hoodies. and um, from what i've read in the news, the bars are open much later than 6. where the heck are you living? the smallest village there?

Are you sure you're in England, because it diesn't sound like any place in the country that I have ever been and I'm well travelled.

Don't worry, we're glad to see the back of you. Why wait til you're done? Go now! No one wants you here if that's your attitude, so if it's that bad leave!

I lived in London this year as an American and I loved it, minus the English food. The people are nice, public transit is great, shopping is fun, and there are plenty of things to do. :) We can trade if you want assuming you live in a good part of London like Kensington. Deal??

Lol, where the hell are you staying - the Outer Hebrides?

In essence, what you're trying to say is - you've travelled 3,000+ miles to another country, on another continent, and things are a little different from home? Shock! Horror!

Ahhh didums...getting homesick are you...well you can always leave right now...I doubt anyone would miss you!

It rains here because of our location in the world...it's why we have nice green grass and beautiful English Cottage Gardens...and anyway, the sun is shining in West Yorkshire this morning.
