Right when I started watching it tonight I thought that maybe they were only going to keep it segregated for an episode or two just to stir up a buzz and then mix everybody up again.
I don't know that that would actually happen but it hit me just as the show began -- what if this was just a publicity stunt?
Which, whether they do it or not, actually, it is.
So far I think the show is pretty interesting. At least THIS time I know who is on which tribe because it usually takes me a few weeks to get straight who belongs where!

From a marketing perspective - it's BRILLIANT!

With shows as old as Survivor, the more controversial the program, the better to keep viewer interest (= ratings! = $$$$$)

Mark Burnett is a smart business man. I think this season is going to be one of the best. For a few years now its been getting stale.
