Does he get credit for any good that he does? People seem to have a need to blame him for everything that is wrong instead of doing their homework and finding out the correct reason to begin with.

Because hes the one controlling, or should I say associated with the ones controlling the price. Dont you think its odd that prices are going down just in time for the elections? Last year when prices sky rocketed, the price dropped just before the Christmas Holiday to boost sales, and before Katrina, all those oil companies in the Gulf were only running like at 60% before price increases due to need for repair. Then after Katrina they said they were devastated and couldn't produce about 60%. You do the math. Same production after as before? And they got the Federal Government to pay for, that's means you and me. On top of that they got a huge incentives by the Bush Adminstration, millions. And on top of that, they jacked gas prices. This gas issue has nothing to do with supply and demand, just greed pure and simple.

If these people were smart (lol), they would know that gas prices are always highest in the summer and lowest in the winter. Ben Bernanke, Fed chairman, noted that high gas prices were due largely to supply and demand issues. Demand is highest in the summer driving season, and lowest in the winter. When considering inflation, gas prices are cheaper than they were 20-30 years ago. According to my personal finance book, from 1980 to 2004, the price of bread grew at a faster rate than the price of gas. The government makes more money in taxes than the oil companies get in profit on each gallon of gas. The oil companies % of profit on each gallon of gas is between 8-9%. What is a reasonable percentage of profit? Please, will all the whiners shut-up?

He took actions that caused the prices to rise?
So let's see, according to that theory, Bush has been pretty busy:
He fomented strikes and rebellions against Hugo Chavez's power grab in Venezuela.
He started a rebel army in Nigeria and began wreaking havoc all over the country.
He whipped up some nasty hurricanes and sent them to the Gulf of Mexico.
He went up to Prudhoe Bay and accelerated the rusting of the pipelines.
He strapped some bombs to himself and blew up the pipelines in Iraq.
He sent out subliminal messages to everyone making them drive momre in the summer.
He made all the states independently come up with their own unique, more expensive formulas of gasoline that could only be sold in that state.
He arrested all the owners of the oil companies in Russia.
He went to the Israel-Lebanese border and launched some rockets to foment a war between Isreal and Lebanon.
He is in Iran posing as a fundamentalist nutcase hell-bent on blowing up the world and threatening to cut off oil supplies.
Sounds like a busy guy!

Oil prices also react when there is a war. Yes Bush should take credit for both starting and ending a war.

Because when things are bad it is because Bush is evil and when things are good it is despite Bush being evil. It was his fault if there wasn't enough oil but he doesn't get exonerated once their is plenty of oil.
Also look at the answer above stating that he took action to raise the price of oil but no indicating of what that action was, then he took action to lower the price of oil but still no clue as to what that action was either. They just know that he must have done something bad because they don't like him.

Before we give Bush credit, let's wait until Nov. elections. If after that time they don't go back up I would give him credit.. Meantime, I think the oil company's are holding prices to help GOP be re-elect ed.

I like Mr. Bush.
He didn't have much to do with the prices either way but he got hammered for them when they went up.
I think he might have shown some more leadership in telling the oil companies to get reasonable with prices or in telling government to back off on gas taxes.
The essentially liberal press will never give Mr. Bush a break on anything.

We have been getting ripped off by oil people for a long time, oil co's report huge profits, Bush is an oilman and deals with foreign oil producers, the price of gas could be half of what it is now and the oil co's would still profit.
