I'm not just tooting my own horn here, I'd just like to see more people do this.
Sometimes when I'm at a drive thru, I'll wait to see the total for the next customer's order. If it's not too huge, I'll pay it. I do the same at toll booths.
During the holidays, I gave a tip to a gas station cashier who was notoriously cranky, just to see if I could force her to crack a smile. $5 and a "Merry Christmas" and she smiled. That was fun.
And here's a surprising one that was done for me. I used to go visit a guy in the city a few times a month, and he was supposed to give me $$ for gas, but forgot. I would pass the same squeegee guy at the off ramp every time I drove in, and I always gave him a buck or two. When I got to the ramp to go home, I told him about my gas problem. Squeegee guy gave ME $5 for gas. How cool is that?
Pay it forward, folks.

Years ago I broke down on the side of a highway. I stood outside my van and hoped someone would stop. It was rushhour and all these people just kept on passing. Finally a small car that was in worse shape than my van stopped and two young men, with long hair and an unkempt appearance offered help. I admit to being a bit hesitant at first but I felt pretty calm. I did go, they did take me right there and they were nothing but polite. I will never forget there kindness.

I was at the beach with a friend's family when I was 13. I was way out (beyond the waves) when the red flag was posted to get all swimmers out of the water due to a horrific rip current.
Too late for me. I tried several times to get back in, but was dragged further and further out. I watched in a near-panicked state as the life guards began rescue operations (which required several civilians to assist) to bring three smaller children in by tossing out a tire on a rope.
As I treaded water to keep afloat (surely I'll be rescued next!) I began to get tired.....and went under. I was amazed to find myself sinking...and quickly popped back up - exhausted.
Over the next 15 minutes, this happened two more times - and I decided to give up.
As I was sinking for the last time, a bald head appeared in front of my eyes, then strong arms wrapped themselves around my body and tugged me toward the surface. A 68 year old man had been watching me from the shore and realized the life guards didn't know I was there, so he dove in and swam out to save me.
I have no idea how he could have seen me behind the huge waves, but I remain forever grateful.

A couple years ago, I had nearly bled to death, needed nine pints of blood transfused into me, then had a myomectomy (internal surgery to remove fibroids.) A few weeks after the fact, I was allowed to "immerse in water." My doctor meant "take a bath, or perhaps dip in the pool." I interpreted that to mean "go to the beach just before a hurricane hits shore and go surfing."
A man there wore a T-shirt I liked, and I told him I liked it. We got into a conversation. He told me about battling cancer. I told him what I had just been through. We felt that we understood each other--we'd both recently come close to dying, and so going storm-surfing just didn't seem so stupid anymore. He took off his T-shirt and gave it to me. It said "Living in fear sucks!" That has been my rallying cry ever since.

I had a phone line installed at my home on Thursday. We were not at home when the telephone guy arrived for installation. As required by phone company, since neither my partner or I were going to be home, we had to leave my front gate unlocked and put my 3 puppies in their pens. When I arrived home I found a note from the phone guy that he had freed my puppies (Rogue, Beau and Jack) from the pen and let them run around. He stated that my puppies were cute and enjoyed playing with them. (go figure he used the word cute). I noticed that he had filled their water bowls and he locked my front gate when he left. The niceness was directed to my puppies. It was unexpected.

When my son was 15 yrs old - he developed leukemia and we had to stay with him at the hospital for a long time. Our resources were pretty much gone by this time, and my husband and I were trying to count our pennies to go eat in the hospital cafeteria, and this really sweet couple came up to us and handed us a $100.00 bill and told us God Bless. We didn't know them, and we hadn't seen them before. Anyway - we tried to get their names to repay them, but they wouldn't hear of it.
My husband and I think they were angels.
Our son died later that week - but we still remember those kind people. We have tried to gain wisdom from all of this, and we routinely try to give what we have to others.

my husband and i ran out of gas several years ago and we had absolutely no money (we were on our way to get paycheck) no credit card or anything,
some nice black man on a motorcycle took my husband with a gas can to a station got 2.00 worth of gas , brought him back, we put it in and the man told us to follow him to the station so we did, and he filled our tank up. we asked him for his address or a phone # so we could pay him back and he wouldn't hear of us paying it back.
that is just one of many many more stories, God has blessed us with meeting sooo many nice ppl.

Well nothing to do with sexuality, but its still stranger niceness. Today at the bus stop, a fat old lady dropped a dollar coin under the seat and asked me to pick it up for her coz she said if she tried she'd "probaly fall over and break my kneck". Well i thought it was nice of me to pick it up for her.
