Yes he did. She woke up and he was sitting at the side of her bed. The first news story said he appeared to be sleeping. When she tried to wake him she realized something was wrong and called for the nurses. They said at the time they didn't believe drugs , alcohol or foul play was involved. Now there are reports saying that he did have drugs in his system and at some point had actually thrown up. The autopsy report is supposed to be read tomorrow morning.

On September 7th Anna Nicole gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace.

An autopsy was performed Monday. On Tuesday, Her Majesty's Coroner Linda P. Virgill said that based on preliminary findings, "the cause of death is not natural." But, she said, "we wish to reserve [announcing] the cause of death at this time," adding that a toxicology results and a full autopsy report will be released by the end of the week.
Virgill said an inquest will take place afterward and her staff will interview all "relevant witnesses," including Anna Nicole Smith, hospital workers and flight attendants, to develop an official timeline.
The coroner's statements came in the wake of a story in the Nassau Guardian that Daniel Smith suffered a "massive heart attack" and that antidepressants had been found in his system. The newspaper said that Daniel was seen "vomiting uncontrollably" shortly before his death.

He died from unnatural causes when he went to visit her in the hospital after she gave birth to a daughter.

they say it's suspicious and they know how he died, but are waiting for toxicology results to confirm. They also say that someone was in the room with him when he died and they know who that person is. But nothing more....

they say he was found dead in his sleep, they are doing toxicology to see if he was on drugs or anything, but no word yet as to cause of death
