Think about it. All the evidence suggests the universe exploded in a big bang from a quantum singularity. Some 9 billion years later, 4 billion years ago, life began to evolve from single celled organisms, the key being DNA. 4 billion years later humans walk the earth, reproducing their DNA. We get born, we live, we die, the evidence once again suggesting that is all that matters, and for life to continue the DNA must be reproduced. The world belongs to genes.
Apart from that, there is no meaning to life. Anyone who believes in God, heaven and hell is kidding himself. Just enjoy it, have a beer, ride with and don't stress too much worrying about meaning where none exists.

"Life" is just a word. How an individual lives gives meaning to that word. The choices that we make, the events that we experience, hardships and losses we go through, the joys and thrills that we get to taste...all these give meaning to the word life.

Most often, life and our thoughts about it are driven by our mindset. Having a positive mindset will definitely take us to elevated states of being. It's easier said than done, yet striving towards keeping a positive mindset, it definitely pays off...at the end of the day.

The meaning of life on the most basic level is to reproduce and pass along your DNA. No matter who you are or what you do in your life the only thing that will matter in 1000 years is if you had children. If a living part of you (your sperm or egg) lives on past you, then you really are not dead. Everlasting life is not as far away or as mystical as it is percieved.

I don't know why people are saying 42.

I think the meaning of life is to seek out truth.

To chose a side between Pirates and Ninajs and devoting 45 years of training to that faction. Then, once you are ready, you must fall into the shadow realm where ninjas and pirates fight in mortal combat for all of time. It is believed that it was a clash bewteen a ninjas shurikin and a pirates peg leg that created the big bang. one must then ask where where they fighting if the universe didnt exist....that my friends is the real question...

The meaning of life, as divined through chemical enhancement and twelve hours in a hot tub, is:

God/Allah/Budda/Diety of the Upper Air will stop farting when you stop laughing because he/she/it farted.

42 is also an acceptable answer.

The short answer is that it has no meaning other than the meaning you give it.

The slightly longer answer.... My personal belief is that we are here to satisfy God's longing for companionship.
