Because we're born this way. The same reason you like girls, you were born that way.
Once you just stop asking "why" and just start accepting that there are people who are different than you, but that those differences aren't a judgement of whether a person is better or worse than you, we'll all get along much better.
People don't all write with their right hands, some use their left. Does that make them better or worse a person? No, of course not.
Not all people have the same color eyes, is that a judgement on what kind of a person they are? No, of course not.
Not all people are the same skin color, or hair color, or height or weight. None of these things should have anything to do with what kind of person they are.
We're all human beings. We all must share this overcrowded planet. We all live, we all die, and with any luck, we all get a chance to know love.

That's a strange question for at least forty years, it's been known and reported that gayness is a normal birth anomaly and thus can not be considered an illness or changeable.
You might have missed the study that shows gays & transgenders to have higher I.Qs. on average than straights. Maybe that's why you didn't catch the first study.

You may as well ask why aren't cats dogs? Or why are straight people straight? I've never met one that made a conscious decision to be straight. They just went with their natural inclination at puberty. It's no different for gay people. Just because you cannot understand what it feels like to romantically like someone of the same sex doesn't mean it isn't completely natural for someone else. I don't understand how people can listen to Barry Manilow without their brain turning to mush, but I have to grudgingly admit the man must appeal to plenty of others by the millions of records he sells. Sometimes we just have to accept things we can't understand. It doesn't automatically make them wrong or evil because we can't get inside of it and know what it feels like.

No offense taken. It's pretty much the same reason you like the opposite sex. Nature. We are born a with a different sexual orientation than you. That's all. Btw, it's not just about sex, but love and the fulfilling relationship that goes with romance and finding a right fit life partner. Like I said, not much different than your way of being. Cheers.

how can you like girls? well often , in cases such as yours youre acting out because of an unresolved problem. this is often because youre uncomfertable with your own sexuality, because of things that could have confused you like being molested as a child, or whitnessing sexual acts at a very young age. or maybe your just in the closet. i would think hard about this and possibly consult a psychologist.

Why are people homosexual or bisexual?
No one knows exactly why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, any more than we know why people are heterosexual. Many theories have been suggested as to why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including hormonal differences, genetic predispositions, family interactions, social and emotional factors, or early sexual experiences. None of these theories is, as yet, widely accepted. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that homosexuality and bisexuality are, at least in part, determined by genetic factors prior to birth. Research continues to be conducted in these areas.
Regardless of why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, it is now clear that people do not "choose" to be homosexual or bisexual. Even if people do not have sexual experiences until they are adults, their sexual orientation is determined early in life. This means that whether a person is sexually abused as a child has no bearing on whether he or she will be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. While some people who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual have been sexually abused as children, there are also many heterosexual adults who were abused as children.
Similarly, it does not appear that sexual orientation can be changed or altered. Whether through psychotherapy, religious experiences, or other means, there is virtually no likelihood that one's sexual orientation can be permanently changed. While our sexual behavior may be quite variable, orientation is more stable. A heterosexual person can no more be "changed" to be homosexual than a gay or lesbian person can be "made" heterosexual. Psychotherapies or religious organizations that claim to change sexual orientation focus on changing sexual behavior, not sexual orientation. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people can best be helped by accepting who they are, rather than trying to change who they are.

angel,
Maybe it's the scowl of you picture that sets some of us off on you. There's a channel on cable TV that explains both the theory behind Gaydom and how people react to your facial expressions. You don't look friendly.

Because it's in our nature to be attracted and make love to the same-sex which makes us gay.
