I like to wear leather at times and also enjoy other 'fetish' scenes. When going out,why does it seem that a majority of the men are just plain fat/out of shape etc? I like older men too, but am turned off by slobs or overweight guys.

The question is why does leather = fat?
I know I am not everyones type and all are not for me...

This won't sound right but, attractive men probably don't go out to the gay bars as frequently as their "unattractive counterparts." Hypothetically speaking, if you are drop dead gorgeous guy why waste your time going to the same bars all the time and seeing the same people. I think they spend more time at small personal parties or out with close friends.

Gay Men In Leather

As I understand it, there was this "gay scene", and it was one thing. You either fit in there, or you didn't. A bunch of less effeminate gay men said "well that blows" and went off and did their own thing, rejecting the standards of beauty found elsewhere. That was the whole bear movement thing, which is ....we'll say correlated to leather. My GUESS is that they're in the scene because that scene is more welcoming to people who don't look like models etc.

I don't think leather= fat. But who are we to judge them. If overweight guys want to wear leather chaps, let them be. It's a free country. I admired them for wearing tight leather chaps/pants and be comfy about it.
Gawd, I'm 6'2 175lbs and the last time I wore leather chap was during Xtina's song "dirty" was the number song in any gay clubs around the world. That was Halloween 2003. It was so uncomfy and some people commented me about looking good, but I wasn't my style.
It takes guts to wear leather chaps/pants in public. And for those overweight guys who love to wear them. I salute you.

Leave them alone. Just ignore them everytime you go out. They are there to have fun as well.

Sounds like you are a perfectionist, which, by the way is not a strength. Live and let live, man! Nobody is forcing you to hook up with somone you find unattractive. Just deal with it.
