People are racist for a lot of reasons. For one, people tend to be afraid of anything different. People also like to be part of group, and to be included, you have to exclude. For another, parents tend to drill these ideas into their kids heads when they're too young to know better, and these sorts of ideas are hard to shake. It's even possible that there's some evolutionary advantage to shunning other members of your species based on how different they are, ie: there's a greater chance of certain genes being passed down when organism that are more alike mate.
Plus, people are jerks.

I'm not a racist, but I imagine that the racist views that racist have are passed down to them from other racist. Your outlook on life is based on your own experiences and environment you reside in. Certain things happen to certain people and they walk away from the situation hating all people who fit the ethnicity or culture. There are stupid people in the world and you have to look at each person as an individual. Again its all about experiences, judging from your question you probably were raised or are being raised in a household that was not critical of different cultures. Not everyone is as lucky as you an I though and that spawns the people your talking about.

my grandparents were racial...they had nothing to do with us since were half black and white...i know people from the olden days still arent use to the mixed babies but i cant understand why...i feel as im just like everybodii else we all bleed red...that makes us all the same...only thing different is i might be more red of darken then a white person but in all we are the same...no room for racial views these days...i say to hell with anyone that doesnt like it...

I think I'm becoming more prejudice against extremist organizations such as neo nazi's (becuase I think they have no legit reason to exist other than boredom + following parents ignorance), islamic (agenda of anything not muslim is evil) the unethical unity of whites and blacks (Now we are all Americans) against illegal immigrants "who are targeted as only mexicans" and those who choose to be a leech on society. (drug dealers/users and those who abuse welfare - white, black, brown, yellow, etc.)
Sorry I guess I'm not a racist. But I have found someone to hate.

Race makes it easier to identify people. Life would be a lot more confusing, and dull, if everybody looked alike. Unfortunately some people would rather have it that way. Might you mean, "why are people racists?"

Because if it people look at you funny all the time and they happen to share a race, why wouldn't you ask? Is it me, or my skin? I'm sorry to say that race is a big part of our society, and is a sore spot for many people.

Because people don't like anyone that's different. It scares them. It doesnt just apply to race either. People don't like other cultures or religions, ages, genders, political parties, anything. People just want to be around others who believe exactly as they do and look as they do. And that applies to all people, no matter what color.
