I have used those before. Mine were always accurate. I can't quite remember, though, if they claim to be accurate as soon as the first missed day. I think that if I were you, I would just wait a couple more days, and try another one. They are definately cheap enough. That way, you can be totally sure.
Most likely, your period will start anyway, on it's own. If it doesn't, and the test still comes out negative, I wouldn't start the pack of pills until I called my doctor. If you are usually regular, and you know you're not pregnant, then there could be some other health issue going on. Maybe a vitamin deficiency, or anemia, or something, I don't really know what all can cause a missed period.
I hope I've been at least somewhat helpful. Good luck!

I am a nursing student and seem to be on a roll answering OB/gyn Qs tonight. I am quoting from "Maternity Nursing" Lowdermilk & Perry (7th ed). There is a critical thinking question relating to a woman who wants to be pregnant and "is now a week late. She uses a home preg test kit and the results are negative." The responses are: "Home pregnancy tests are based on presence of hCG in urine sample as early as 7 days after conception. False-negative results are more common than falst positive results. all tests do not have the same degree of sensitivity or specificity. Yes, the test may have been performed too soon (now recall you are ONE day late and she is 7)--the most common mistake in home testing. Suggesting that retesting with a home urine test be done in 1 week or having a serum (blood) test done is appropriate. Other conditions can cause a woman to miss her menstrual period." So, it is probably too soon to get an accurate reading. I just had a lab on contraception and Mrs. Hillman, the instructor, stated that oral contraception has proven to not adversely affect fetuses. I suggest calling the manufacturer of the pill you take and ask them. Do whatever they tell you to do. At worst, you will skip a month of oral pills and not be pregnant so you'll have to use backup. I would wait until Sunday morning and retest with the first urine of the day. If it is negative again, consider taking the pill depending on what the manufacturer says. Good luck and keep safe.

First let me say dollar store test work, I have a 2 month old next to me to prove they work. My first test was positive and here he is next to me now. Next I would not take birth controll if you think you are preg. it isn't worth the chance you might be to mess your unborn child at all. On the other hand if you are not going to keep it then don't worry but if you are I wouldn't take them. The test should say how many days before and after the test will work. I am pretty sure most of them will work 3 days before you are to start your period. But if you are late at all it should tell you the correct answer I am pretty sure even 1 day late is late enought for the test now. Hope this will help you out. Good luck with whatever happends.

The tests from Dollar Tree are considered good ones. If you want a good, cheap and reliable test, go to Walmart and get the Equate brand.
Your period may be "late" only because you ovulated late this cycle. Give it a few more days and test again. If there is still concern that you may be pregnant, don't start the pill. Go see your doctor.

Ok, for a dollar store pregnancy test, you probably did take it too soon. I've taken one, and got a negative, and I wasnt pregnant. So, they probably work, although I'm not sure. As far as the BC is concerned, you should probably see a doctor, and get a better test, jjust to make sure

i've got by no potential had a difficulty with the dollar keep being pregnant try assume when I had very low hormones before everything of the being pregnant. i won't have the ability to make certain spending 20+ dollars on a try for me to pee on. some human beings i be attentive to won't have the ability to apply the dollar keep exams yet for the main area it relatively is the comparable ingredient that an outstanding variety of the checklist. places of work makes use of. So I advise merely waiting approximately 4-5 extra days and then taking yet another try.

I have three children and with two I took dollar store tests and they came back positive. I would wait until sat or sun and maybe take a better one just to be on the safe side.

NO NO NO don't take the pill until you know for sure if you are pg or not. You can get a reliable kit for about $6 at rite aid or any drug store or walmarts that might be more reliable. Never heard of dollar store pg kits. Good luck dear.
