Unless someone here will answer you as an international attorney with experience in probate, I'd say your best answers will only be guesses or assumptions.

However, I will give you my best guess - you have a death cert. If you are his next of kin, you should be able to claim the lot, assuming he did not own it with someone else who may have a claim to it (were you two married at the time he purchased it, for instance). This is something you really should consult a *good* attorney on. They should give you a free or reduced rate first consultation to first see if you have a case.

Good luck.

You didn't know about this till now? That was like 30 years ago...

Do they pay taxes in the bahamas? 30 years of taxes you (our your late husband) didn't now about will be a pretty hefty chunk I would think.

you might be able to find some info at http://www.escapeartist.com
It's a great website about moving/living/working/etc... overseas. They have lots of legal stuff....

You have to ask an attorney to execute an Affidavit of Self-Adjudication. Present to him the Title of Land which must be under his name and there is no emcumbrances or liens or mortgaged in the bank. Present also the Certificate of Marriage and his Death Certificate.
All other legals papers you need will be advised from him.
