I regularly clean the outside of my vaginal area and lips with warm water and a mild soap when I shower. When I take a bath I do the same thing but I soak in the tub for a while and allow the water to help in the "womanly cleaning process." But I still seem to have somewhat of a mild odor. I talked to my gynecologist about douching but I can't since many of them have smelly fragrances that I'm highly allergic to. I also can't use strong soaps, since the use of them have caused me to get infections in the past.

I've done some research on douching and I came across one where the only ingredients were vinegar with water (I think). I'm not even sure there is a douching product on the market similar to this.

As women do you have any suggestions on what I could do to help in keeping a clean healthy vaginal area. Or should l I just keep with the routine I've been doing?

All answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My doctor has said douching can cause yeast infections. The best way to clean yourself is vinegar and water. I would do it a few times a week and see if that seems to help.

well, i know that the vinigar/water solution works well because doctors use it to clean you out while testing for abnormal cells, apparently it kills off bacteria and no bacteria = no odour. but if the odour is only minld then it may be normal, every woman has a mild odour but if it's stronger than normal, go to a different doc for a 2nd opinion cos it may then be some kind of infection which can be cleared up with cream or antibiotics. i hope this helps you and good luck!

sometimes douching too much could get rid of the normal bacteria that is suppose to be there. Try a feminine spray or cloth. They are usually made with ingredients that are not that harsh.

What did your dr say? it could be an infection
Douching is not good for you at all! it can strip your vagina of its natural moisture, which makes it really easy for bacteria to enter. this could lead to smell, and even infections. If you are taking a lot of baths, you might try cutting back, maybe the soapy water is drying it out....

they said that douching can do more harm thatn good for you. our vagina is self cleaning. you don't have to douch or clean th inside of your vagina. it will only cause you infections like yeast because tha normal pH of your vagina is disturbed, leading to unpleasant, irritating infections. i think we do have natural smell in that part, you don't need to worry that much. also don't use harsh ingerdients when washing the outside part. mostly said water and mild soap will do, or just plain water. other said that they use baking soda with water to wash the outside part to minimize the odor.
also check with your gyne, maybe you have infections.

my dr. says not to use douches, the vagina is suposed to have an odor as long as it is not a foul odor, and did u know the vagina cleanses itself every month , that's what the doc told me , so yes just keep washing the way u do , that's fine, i was also told that douching causes problems there

vinegar and water is a common mixture. Your vagina should have an odor, but it should not smell rancid. What you are smelling is normal fluid and your vagina needs it to stay healthy.
