Hi Divakar,
Nice question buddy! Well, India lacks literally nothing. Indian beaurocats are most intelligent. We have finest professionals and scientists. Just look at NASA scientists, the American government sheels out billions of dollars on them, yet their progress is that impressive. The Indian Scientists at ISRO work at extremely low salaries, yet we have a finest track record in launching satellites more successfully than any other nation.
But the problem is lack of coordination amongst various organisation including political parties. Hence we are unable to take good decisions and on right time. We have also been unable to convert our huge talent pool into striking work force like China.
What we need today is dynamic leadership, so that we can give strong message to the world.

There's too many people. They should learn from China and try to limit population growth. Secondly, the government needs to be free from corruption.

Hopelessly complicated bureaucracy and corruption makes it overwhelmingly difficult for entrepreneurs to establish new businesses, thus limiting economic growth.

The major problems, as I see it, are too much governmental meddling in business, and corruption in the government.
