Have to admit there is not one thing that I do that consistently helps. The pointers that other people give all seem valid, but depending on circumstances, I use one or the other.
And yes, sometimes I just blow up, and apologize.
That's life.

I guess it depends on how angry I actually am. I normally have an even temper so it takes a lot for me to be enraged. I have different levels. First I ignore the problematic person or I can even pour on the fake and disgusting extra friendly conversation. Sometimes this works. If this does not help, I ask them to please cease. I like to rationally talk things out. If the person is not cooperative and is still being rude, I will quickly walk away. Usually he/she knows better and does not follow me but God help him/her if he/she does. I will come unglued and yell, scream, and possibly cause bodily harm. I stay angry for a long time after becoming unglued. I guess my eyes even change color when I am angry. The darker the blue the more angry I am. Anyone who knows me will leave me alone when my eyes start to darken. One time at work a customer was really rude to me and I could not do anything about it. I went into the walk-in freezer and screamed and kicked boxes. I guess the freezer is supposed to be noise proof but it was not that day...oops. I try to not let people bother me because why let someone take my sunny day.

I use to have explosive anger in my teenage years after many years of looking at myself and why if a reason at all I was acting and feeling in major anger it disolved.

These days I am sometimes feeling angry but only if I have extra tension from lack of exercise etc. SO I would say a standard regime of excercise and healthy emotional habbits would eliminate anger almost entirely.

Study what cause it. See what is really causing it. As humans we make excuses why we are mad which is bull, only we know when we really take a look at ourself.

Alright :-) just a memorable quote - the concept is principally based on teachings of Buddhism.

Buddhism or rather your knowledge of its teachings and principles are a sure way to control your emotions.

We think so we speak, we speak so we do. If thoughts of anger never arise in your mind, then you will never have to worry about how to deal with it.

I Keep Silent (to avoid saying anything i'd regret since i can't think rationally) Go To A Quiet Spot, Think Of My Situation, And Find A Way To End It Peacefully If Possible. On Other Cases, People Piss Me Off To The Limit Where I Gotta Woop Their A**....But That's Just Me, Don't Follow My Example Unless You Wanna Get Shot One Day......

just stay calm and sweet no matter what
i do it by remembering what an ahole my mohter was cause she was mad all the time
and then looking at my kids
and knowing that i dont want them to think im an a hole too
it works
also
i never ever ever raise my voice
somehow it helps
i found a long time ago, pre children, that if i get going yelling
at a boyfriend or a boss or a pan handler or something
that the blood pressure goes up
the pulse starts racing
and you cant stop it
at least i couldnt
so i just dont raise my voice
i make a point of sounding like jennifer tilly all day long

To handle my anger or frustration, I go to my room and cry in a corner, with a pet or stuffed animal. Then, I go to sleep, or play videogames.... Or, if I can't sleep, I take out my guitar, and practice chords, but not too often... I moastly sleep.... Other times, I talk to a good friend, about nothing, anything, and even everything! I am glad to have had a great friend who would talk to me at any time of day or night... but sometimes I can't contact him, so I just sleep...

Sometimes not so well so I got a book called the Anger Workbook by Dr. Les Carter and Dr. Frank Minirth. It has helped.

Usually by exercising, but a couple of weeks ago I let a deserving person have it verbally, both barrels and extra ammo. It was wonderful. Her shocked expression (she is plainly a bully who's used to getting away with this behavior) was priceless. I loved it!
