We did and we were disppointed at the lack of availability of the refill string for it. The machine itself is good but finding the string refills was frustrating. The places that sold this trimmer didn't bother to stock the string refills or maybe they just sold out as quickly as they came in. What a waste money.

Your Grasshog Trimmer is Model#: GH600, and has an AFS Automatic Feed Spool. What you need is the Replacement AFS, Pre-Wound Spool. I found it at:

YES... I bought one not too long ago. about a month.. from Home Depot. the person selling it said they were temporarily out of string(already rolled in a spool) and I bought it.. then I went back to buy a spool JUST in case I would need it and the guy said that they do not sell spools but I would have to wind my own. SO.. when I run out, I may try to wind my own and if I do not like it, I will just return it(I have the receipt).. I return many things that do not work properly and think nothing about it.

I got mine at the home depot last June. The refills were on the same aisle. Bought 1 extra. Directions for restinging also came with it. Just fishing line.
