Pilates mostly works on your flexibility and improves muscle tone. It is a low impact exercise routine. It targets a specific muscle group at a time. However, it is still good to do some cardio workout 2-3 times per week (such as brisk walking, running, cycling, or playing other sports).

I've been doing some off and on for a few months. It's worth it. I had some problems with my back and when I started doing some of the exercises I felt better. I like it because I have a dvd that tells me how to do moves; so I don't have to use any of those comfound machines I see in the exercise mags. I only do the moves I can do, as well. I think it's a good way to condition your muscles and build strength.

Pilates was developed for ballet dancers. It's a way to build strenght without getting bulky muscles. From what I've heard, it can be very effective but classes can be more expensive that other kinds of exercise classes.

I love it. Pilates is how I returned to my pre-baby shape.
