I don't know if you're looking for "serious" murder mysteries or any of that group known now as "cozy" mysteries. Though I don't read much in this genre, I do know of some authors that many seem to enjoy:
Don of the Dead by Casey Daniels is one I did read, and it's kind of fun - a protagonist that hits her head and can suddenly see and hear the dead.
You can also try Joann Pence, Leslie Caine, Sarah Strohmeyer, Maddy Hunter, Kay Hooper, India Ink, Earlene Fowler, Leann Sweeney and Joan Fluke. Most, if not all of these authors have written a number of books with the same character in each of them. They seem to have more humor in them than a regular murder/mystery.

Mary Higgins Clark, Mary Jane Clark, James Patterson, Jeffrey Deaver, Michael Connelly, John Sandford, Michael Palmer, Robin Cook, Sara Paretsky, Sue Grafton, just too many great authors of mysteries to name here. A lot depends upon what kind of mysteries you like. Check out a lot of authors, read one of their books and you will know if you will enjoy reading all of their books.

My favorites are James Patterson, Lillian Braun, and if you like "ethnic" mysteries, I LOVE Tony Hillerman! He writes a series in which his protagonists are Navaho Indian tribal policemen named Jim Chee and Joe Leaphorn. He teaches about the Navaho way of life while entertaining you at the same time. My favorite is Skinwalkers. Exceptional read!
