Now, I tried to figure this out. There aren't any denominators, so I don't have to worry about that. I can't factor this, so I used the quadratic formula, but my x values came to imaginary numbers, so does this mean there aren't any zeros, and therefore no solution? Help...

X can be any number to make this statement true. If you were to graph this equation, it would be a parabola with the bottom above the x=0 line therfore any value of x gives a positive result.

Ok, looks like the answers given are not complete...so here is mine.

x^2 + 3x + 8 > 0

Lets find the solution for equation = 0
Completing the square we get,

x^2 + 3x + 2.25 + (8-2.25) = 0

(x + 1.5)^2 + 5.75 = 0

(x+1.5)^2 = -5.75

x+1.5 = +/-isqrt(5.75)

x= -1.5 + i sqrt(5.75)
= -1.5 - i sqrt(5.75)

The above are the zeros of the equation

So any value x greater than these two roots will work.

Good luck!

I get the same thing as you....imaginary x is the only way for the x^2 part not to kill us.
