If you want to earn big $$ you should study something more specialised as there are many qualified IT personnel. Also you have to compete with TAFE students as they are cheaper to hire and their courses are more practical than a tertiary course.

Having at least two years of experience in the IT industry helps alot as employers value experience over education.

try Sydney that's where most of the IT jobs are. Melbourne would be your second choice.

Assuming that a Masters in IT is a general computing/business degree, your job prospect would depend on your other bachelor degree. As a whole, having an IT degree to compliment your other degree is good as the IT industry will be around for some time.

Is studying MIT very expensive? can you get a similar qualification from TAFE coz a tertiary cert in IT may hold the same value as the TAFE cert (e.g. for computer networking, it cost about $20,000 to study at uni whereas in TAFE it cost 1/3(?) that amount and at the end of the day both certs gave equal employment prospect just that a uni certs does sound nicer if you are seeking employment overseas)

try the "Graduate employment handbook 2006" or 2007 which should be available through your uni's career adviser. If not go to another uni and see whether they've got it. this book is excellent coz it's fairly accurate.
