I think you should buy an existing home somewhere in an area that real estate isnt outrageous. You can fix it up a little as you live there and then sell it in a year or two or whatever and make some money for the nicer, newer house that you want.

Good luck, unless you plan on building it yourself..even then don't count on it.

Average house costs are about $85 S.F. for residential construction without any bell or whistles whatsoever. Figure more like $105-$125S.F. for your average home.
