One of humanity's characteristics is curiosity - which has often been linked to intelligence. The fact that you want to know - even in the most generic sense - is an example of this curiosity or desire for knowledge.
You want to know because you have intelligence, because you are human.

Would you really want to know if there is no reason? All people search for answers as they live their lives of quiet desperation. This is life, add your own meaning and never look back. Why not find enjoyment where you can? Only you can find the answer to why within yourself. For me, my children are my truth, meaning, and reason.

You have questions, many, but cannot find them right away because important questions don't come by often, and if we think about our questions many times we find answers.
"Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something." -Plato
We contemplate that subconsciously when we ask or answer questions.
