I was 18 when I first went for my visit. California renewed the health code to state that women didn't need a pap smear til her 21st b-day when getting on the pill. So, I really didn't have to get one, but I went ahead anyways. I am almost 21 and I seen quite a few gyno's over the years due to health issue's of my abnormal cells that cause sever yeast infections (which link to cancer if not taken care of). As much as I hated going, its just part of life of trying to survive in this world.
Always good to be checked and all that. It was scary and I didn't like it. Very uncomfortable. But, I rather take care of my body than go years not knowing if something is wrong, get sick and can not get treated for whatever it is. Cervical cancer, stomach, Colan and other cancers run in my family.
If high risk due to heredity, then sometimes a 10 min gyno visit is not so bad after all.
I say good age is 18 if regular period and things seem to go well.
If abnormal period, heavy cramps and abnormalities in private locations, then see doctor to refer to gyno as soon as possible of whatever age it is. Whether be 9 years old or well into 40's.
If sexually active prior to 18, I say when ever coming sexually active.

If your periodd is irregular then I'd go see one, or talk to your primary care. Doctors typically recommend you should start seeing a gyno, at the age of 18 every year or when you are sexually active or whenever periods are irregular.

You are supposed to go as soon as you start your menstruation cycles. This way they can do pap smears to detect cervical cancer or any other abnormal growth, like an ovarian cyst. These things become risk factors as soon as menstruation starts.
I wish I had gone from the get go, I started menstruation at 13, at age 14 I had a 9lb Ovarian Cyst that ripped off one of my ovaries. If I had been seeing a GYN they would have detected it early one and saved me a lot of pain.

I think that 16 is about the right age to go see a gyno. That is when I went and it was just for a yearly. I also think that if you as sexually active that you should see a gyno simply for safety

if they have started their period and it's irregular, then I say go and get checked out, definitely. I went at the age of 16, but you can go sooner.

I was 16 when I went to my first gyno appt. I also decided to get put on the pill because it will regulate you period. It was a little embarrassing but it was better then having a baby before I was ready

If things are irregular get checked. Otherwise go at 18 or when you become sexually active - whichever comes first.

whenever she becomes sexually active and if she is just starting her period it will be irregular. If there is pain or it's very irregular talk to your family dr and go from there.

If your having a period you can see a gyecologist. But when I was a teen my regular family doctor did a pap smear for me.

My first yearly womans check was when I was 14, and I go every year expecially since my family has had some people with cervical cancer. I would go whenever you start your period.
