He's 11, 4 feet 2 and ~2 pounds. He looks 2-3 years younger than his friends.

But I am only 5 feet 2 and only hit 100 pounds in college and his dad was about 5 feet 8 and 180 pounds.

He was a preemie but not much, only about 4 weeks early. Does that still matter?

His pediatrician weighs him in every time we go and hasn't said anything -- although the last 3-4 visits werent' for checkups they were for strep throat or ear aches or stuff like that.

How do I bulk him up? He isn't interested in sports at all. I don't want him to get bullied.

first and foremost you have to have him check for his growth. meaning what does his growth curve look like. only then you will determine if this is even an issue (if he is actually short or not). if he is, depending on what the curve looks like, and i mean from when he was an infant up to the present, a lot of things can be discerned. so before anything else about bulking up (and ending up obese in the end), see his pediatrician first. that's what the yearly check up is for. take advantage of that!

You don't bulk him up.
He's 11.
If his pediatrician hasn't said anything, he probably is on his normal growth curve.
His predicted height is as follows:
Your height + 5 inches + Dad's Height all divided by 2
so 62 + 5 + 68 = 175/2 = 67.5inches
or 5 foot 71/2 inches
is his predicted height.
Boys hit their growth spurts starting at about 14
Ask your pediatrician for an estimate...

Have you siscussed your concers with the peds dr there is a conditionof th e thyroid or endrocrine system that can be addressed by HGH a prescription injection and cost about $2-3,000 per injection for kids who are too small for their age you dont want to bulk him on steroids as he will pay for it later with cancers ect Iam assuming he gets a good diet of all the 5 main food groups and gets plenty of exercise so talk to your doc or waith for a growth spurt hope that helps Gorbalizer

I was pretty skinny when I was younger, you shouldn't worry too much about that unless he has trouble with his health in the future. Maybe he's just a picky eatier? Younger kids usually are. I'm still pretty short, 5'1, but I weigh 120 and I'm 24. Your child should get some sort of exercise...especially since it will help his health in the future, maybe even karate or something?

My cousin's son had the same problem ...when he gets in 8th or 9th grade, he'll have a growth spurt. My cousin's son is now about 6' tall. Your son probably will not be that big, but he'll grow.
