Go to the web address below. Most likely these flies are gnats and they tend to like plants. If you have an infected plant then all you have to do is get a spray... otherwise check the website below.

Did you bring the plant inside in a pot of dirt or top soil? I had a similar problem and thought they were fruit flies but learned that the annoying little gnat like bugs flying all over my house were called either white flies or fungus gnats and had actually came out of the soil the plant was in. The soil had bits of bark mulch in it and this acted as a breeding ground for the flies everytime i watered the plant. I ended up using a insect killer that was chrysanthimum based and i just soaked the soil and my problem cleared up. If it's not soil related, take a look at the under side of the leaves and petals and make sure you don't see any eggs on them. Frequently bugs and insects like to leave their offspring behind on them. I would suggest going to a specialty garden center and asking someone what they suggest if you don't get any help on here.

I dont know if they are the little buggers around here lately but these damn things bite/sting. They look like nats but I dont think I was ever stung by a nat. I guess these could be called no-seeums. They may have a spray at Lowes or something like that that would be safe for your plants. Actually I just remembered that I had a bunch of live ivy plants in my house and I got those little flies so I did buy a plant safe spray and it worked. Yeah, check out Lowes or Home Depot.

Yes, these are fungus gnats (I believe) and they are probaby infested in the plant you brought in from outside. We recently had the same problem at my workplace from people bringing outside plants in to the office to make a nice work environment. The only thing the succeeded in doing was filling the place with these little buggers. Follow the advice from past posters.

THEY ARE NOT FLIES. THE LITTLE BLACK BUGS ARE GNATS. YOU NEED TO 'ROOT' YOUR PLANT. TAKE IT OUTSIDE ASAP!

TAKE IT OUT OF THE 'BOWL' IT IS IN.

SPRAY IT WITH 'miracle grow'.

replant it in another container.

good luck!
