Okay -- I was AT the 85th birthday surprise party. I was AT the christening. I survived the 3 hour wedding service from hell. I don't need to relive these things on video. I have the memories BURNED IN MY BRAIN already. Maybe I'm alone in this aversion to watching family videos of events I observed LIVE... How do you feel about watching family videos?

I don't mind a 5 minute silly thing. I'm talking about videos of an ENTIRE EVENT.

Please read what's on the screen. I'm NOT talking about HAVING the video, like a photo album, to look at LATER in life.

Yes -- maybe I will want to look at this when I'm old and alone, like looking through a photo album -- but that is NOT what my question is about.

AMEN. At least no one has brought out the child birth video from hell. That really happened to me at one of my friend's sister's house. That is one you don't want to see, ever.

The video is buffering and that i think of this is given which you have a sluggish internet connection. appropriate way around this is to load the video yet right this moment pause it. then you will see the little bar around the backside shifting to the spectacular, IE the video is loading. whilst this is finished you may unpause the video and watch it with none interruptions.

People grow old, people die, and maybe 20 or 30 years from now you might enjoy seeing your family as they were back in the day. For that matter, if these videos are preserved digitally, your descendants hundreds of years from now might appreciate being able to witness their great, great, great grandparents' wedding and the ensuing celebration. It's not for immediate entertainment value. It's about documenting an important event for posterity and historical reference.

See if your family will let you borrow the videos. If you have the software, great! Otherwise there are several businesses that do this. Just edit the highlights onto one video. This way you won't have to sit through a four hour movie event everytime they want to watch Aunt Sallie giving birth again. :)

These peole need to get some editing software, dub the tapes to the PC, and edit these memories down to five minute MTV videos. We don't have attention spans to watch anything longer than that!

Completely agree, and my mom wants to tape everything. She then wants to go home and watch the damn thing over and over, and I mean as soon as she walks through the door. She invite us all over and gets mad when we don't want to go. Tape things to show others not the people there.

its the same way i feel about people tape recording a professor in a college class. why would you want to listen to it later if you can't pay attention enough in the class?
