Well actually as of right now I have osteopenia, very close to osteoporosis. I was diagnosed about a month ago & since then I have been taking at least 1500 mg of calcium a day to try & rebuild the lost bone mass.

Im only 25 & this was caused by the depo-provera, birth control shot, prolonged use of it anyways...8 years. Doc said if I didnt get off the shot & start taking calcium supplements I would be crippled in 10 years. Osteoporosis is usually in old people.

They say it can be reversed, but how long will it take to get the bone back, & does it always reverse?? Have you ever heard of someone so young having it?

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, I have been diagnose with several things in the past that "i am too young for", so Im kind of worried.

First of all; I do not understand WHY you are not on a presciption drug for bone loss? This can be reversed to a certain degree.

Young women smoking, and drinking carbonated beverages and eating red meat ; oh let us not forget street drugs and alcohol; have never been told that doing all these things in your teens and twenties means you are NOT laying down bone mass. Bone mass that is built up by drinking milk, eating ice cream and yogurt and cheese..along myriad other items.

Women may start to give up bone mass as early as their 30s and this accelerates thru the years leading up to menopause and after that welllllll...I see thin young white women who eat little (diet soda, no dairy products and cigs) exercise like maniacs and are then stunned to get this diagnosis. Sorry to say BUT fat holds estrogen and estrogen holds bone mass; BUT you have to have put something into your body in order to build the bone mass in the first place.

You have to take some responsibility and find out what you are doing to your body;even prescriptions as doctors do not usually care as you have come to find...

BTW: Take an expensive form of calcium(NOT TUMS)or you will just be building a bird bath out of calcium in your gut.
