Don't bother with the God business anymore. Enjoy your freedom.

Don't diss the believers, though, they are afraid of death or afraid their children will grow up bad.

Human beings are hard wired to have a belief in God. If you say that you decide not to believe, then you are really denying part of your being. If you sit in the silence of your room and clear your head of all the noise of life, you will hear something speaking to you. God is always in communication with us, no matter what we are doing. It takes some time to stop and listen, to try and hear. How many times were your parents trying to tell you or teach you something that you just did not want to hear or learn? Through your life experience though you have probably some experiences where you realized that your folks (or folk) were correct. It is the same thing. I am not telling you that 'Believe or go to hell!' That is not right. You just need to spend some time listening to your soul. It will tell you what is the right thing to believe. Peace.

The simple fact is this. It is not that good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell, but that people who believe must get to God through Jesus, and people who do not believe but know that there is a God go to hell. If you know that he's there, and choose to walk away then I (personally) belive that you will go to hell. HOWEVER : If you know that he's there and you are having a hard time putting faith in him, try being alone in a room, when you talk to him do it honestly. Tell him that you can't decide if he's really there for you or not. You sound like a smart person. Maybe read the bible a little. I would start with the book of Mathew or Mark. NO MATTER WHAT, I promise that he will not give up on you. everyone goes through trials and tribulations:) Good Luck!

It could be good or bad, depending on how you view it. On one side, you don't believe in an almighty being and therefore have no one to ask for help when you're in trouble. On the other, you're making your own decisions and deciding not to believe in something that your parents are forcing you to.

L. Ron Hubbard did say (I'm paraphrasing) "You'll never get money writing for a penny a word, if you really want to get rich, start a religion."

I think you answered your own question. If you really don't believe in Him, then why ask? You obviously want too or you could forget about Him. Did something happen that made you change your mind about Him? He never said believing would be easy; all he wants is for us to trust Him to know what's right for us. And believe me, most of us find out the hard way that He knows what He's doing.
I think you should ask Him to show you what He wants; if you ask, He will show you.

Interesting question. When you ask a question like this, you need to expect the full gambit of answers, and you will have zealots on here who are going to try and do you in, but you need to believe what YOU think is right, and not what some whacko tells you to. Here goes:

You, like me, do not have "absolute faith." You ask questions, and you want to know more and more the proof of things as they are. Some have the luxury of reading the Bible, the Koran, or the Torah, and they believe it word for word, willingly accepting its teachings. I say that's great for them, as long as they don't exercise their intolerance and hatred for the sureness of paradise in the next life (like blowing up airplanes and bombing abortion clinics).

However, I have done much research on the subject, and there is more evidence in favor of a creator than there is against it. Most scientists believe in a God because they understand that what they are dealing with couldn't happen without one. Most astronomers will tell you that what they see in the universe is impossible without the presence of a creator.

Based on that evidence, I believe in a God. I believe we were put here for a purpose to do good and to love each other as ourselves. I'm most comfortable with Christianity, as that is the ritual I've grown up with. Since all religions are humankind's reflections on the divine, I really don't think it matters which rituals a person is comfortable with, whether it's Buddhism, Islam, etc.

Have faith that there is a guiding presence out there, and although things may not happen the way you want them to, the creator is making sure what happens to you was meant for you. Good luck!

Well it all depends really. We have all (and this we can't deny) sometime in our lives have asked ourselves "Why do these things happen? If I believe in you...why?" but we don't stop to think analytically instead of just bellyaching...the matter and logic of things. Now, let me put up a small example here. Why does the drug dealer have so much money, while the working single father stops eating so his children can eat? Life is very harsh. The single father is honorable, and that matters a lot to God. The drug dealer is human yes, God loves all and loves him yes, for it is said he loves all of his children. But what does drug dealing place him in? Yes, he has lots of sex and booze and all those things men die for, but what about inner peace? No inner peace at all no matter how much he tries to present it. He dies, and only the junkies suffer. The father, now, the father has high hopes of betterment for his family and he defends them teeth and nails, he suffers greatly yes...but there comes a time when wisdom hits him in the back of the head like a spit ball and he achieves that inner peace, thus, to find God for real and that Inner peace, one needs to suffer, for through suffering we learn. The father dies and the plaque says "He was an honorable father" and God smiles. And now let us think about this: Our parents when they saw us do bad things they didn't intervene (some of them did but the wisest didn't) they let us crash and burn and we hated them for years after...then one day we saw the fruits of their labor and said "Oh I remember when dad did this, now I understand..." Now, I believe there is a God...and I believe he is a really good one, but you need to look for him...now he won't look for you. He gives you the choice of believing or not believing. And by believing I am not talking about sitting and reading the bible. I am talking about action. Love others as they love you. Do good. Counsel others, life is a myriad of cycles. The compensation law is abound: You do Good, you receive Good. You do Good, you receive satisfaction, you feel honorable...you become a superhero, and spiritually enlightened. God loves action. You do action, you get your paycheck. You demonstrate no fear against life, God smiles, sees you are a hard nut to crack and rewards you. That is it. I hope you make the right decision.

it's fine with me, I don't believe in him either. There are so many religions out there in the world, look for one that u truly have faith with and start from there. If there is a God, I don't believe He will contempt u for not believing in Him. He should have a open mind and heart

This happened to me about 10 years ago.

I really wish I could believe again...but it's not happening...so I've accepted being an atheist.

You have to decide for yourself if it's good or bad. Some non-believers are fine just the way they are. Some non-believers are like me, wishing I could go back.

This is a very subjective topic....Personally, I do not believe in "god"
Do you believe in Santa?

Exactely.

But everyone has different beliefs that they were raised with and that make them feel good about the world and themselves.. So believe anything you want.. Just do not let others try to make you feel bad about it, you are in control of your mind. I would tell them that tha's how you feel and you are not open to discuss it with them.

I would, if I were you I yourself what in particular caused you to lose the belief. You should by no means force yourself into believing in something. Free will is one of the main tenets of most religions and you should only believe because you do not because people tell you to.
