Bad idea! you shouldn't of put the soap down the toilet!
But since you did....
The water in the toilet will soften it and it will eventually dissolve. (i hope to goodness, it wasn't a fresh piece of soap, just the remainder of a used soap.)
If you put the snake down in the toilet then it would of dissolved the soap.
Maybe it's not a 'piece of soap' after all.
Do you have kids?
One of my kids' somehow got an apple stuck in the toilet.
I didn't believe it until the $150.00 an hour plumber got it out.
You'd be surprised.
Good luck to you!!!
and your DRAIN problem!

First shut off the water. There is a water line that is connected to the tank underneath. Turn valve to right an water will stop entering tankThen flush the toilet , so the water goes down. Next , try hot water, pore it into the toilet ,not the tank.but I think it will take a while for the soap to dissolve. You do not need a new toilet, don't let someone talk you into it,waste of money. Just be patient,it's a matter of time. Scoop out the poop with a empty can or whatever. It's only pooh. Have fun.

From all those answers you are sure to get into trouble.
If it is indeed a bar of soap..... it will soften with time and eventually flush through if it is kept wet.
Yes.... do not use the toilet for solids till it is clear. Fluids are okay
Since it is stuck in the S trap at the bottom what is wrong with using your hand like a plumber will do. There is nothing there that will bite.
If the soap is well out of reach then it could just be wedged much further down. The only suggestion here would be to wait a little time however you will have to keep water flowing so it doesn't dry & harden.
You could alyays try your local hardware store to purchase a cheap hand powered "eel" to feed through .... it's motion should dislodge most things.
Main thing is to have fun and maintain your sence of humor
Good luck

The garden hose is a nice idea but if you can lock your flush handle down with duct tape or lift the arm in the tank and just let the water run into the commode overnight, it should dissolve the bar enough that when you fill the tank and flush it the bar should be small enough that it will probably go down. But, don't use the commode until it is gone or other "stuff" will build up against it and then you will have a real problem. Hopefully you have another bathroom to use. If not, get out the garden hose. Good luck.

you are going to need boiling hot water, which you should only put on the soap when the water level of the toilet is low enough or less its just a complete waste of time. This will allow the soap to dissolve faster and then after a lot of the soap is gone and you can see an opening in the bottom hole of the toilet. Use the plunger and go to town.

Can try bleach..but if that doesn't work..You have to get all the water out of the toilet and turn the water off at the angle stops behind toilet and undo the bolts and remove the toilet and roll it around to unclog the soap. but you will now require a new wax seal and clean up the old before replacing with the new. Put toilet down once and even. snug down the bolts again. or call a plumber.. and have him do it.. or a friend who's a plumber.

It will take eons to dissolve the soap. Lavender is right, the item is called a snake, get one that will not damage the inside porcelain surface int he toilet bowl and push the thing through.

use a snake or an 'augur' made for toilets. did you try plunging? My boy ran out of the toilet paper last week so he used the cardboard tube then flushed it!!! IT DIDN:T dissolve , but the plunger pushed it right out. I'd try that and a snake..
