I'm a grad student with a few more semesters to get through, but the stress is causing me all sorts of health and social problems. I bought one of those massage chairs, goofy as they seem - which has helped a littled. Any other ideas?

I'd really like to find a medication or supplement I could take when I start to feel really stressed/panicky. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

My doctor gives me Atenolol for stress and anxiety. If you are looking for something strange and different, you could check into flower essences. They have done more for my anxiety and stress than anything else I've tried. Natural Care makes a homeopathic tablet called Anxiety Relief which I have also found helpful. You can get them from www.vitacost.com. Other things I have found helpful include singing (usually hymns), listening to relaxing music, reading my Bible or inspirational poetry, exercising, keeping myself busy during anxious moments, and taking breaks to be alone or do something fun.

Reveal the true source of the problem causing your anxiety. It may be you beating yourself up over this relationship with worry. Find power in yourself, it sounds like you are a 'safe person' type, needing this person to feel fulfillment. In a way, this can be normal to some degree, but for your life entire, you need to learn you are your strongest support and you would be fine by yourself- if it comes down to that. Panic attacks are a thought pattern, and fast thinking habit you need to break. It's a vicious cycle, because you panic, then thoughts come to fuel more fear. Once you break the panic with positive thinking you can end the panic attacks. There are so many support forums for this. Hope I helped.

Take a high potency multivitamin and a calcium-magesium plus D tablet supplement. A complete essential fatty acid supplement may be a good idea too. Check out some of the calmative herbal teas: Chamomile is good, Valerian helps one sleep better, Kava kava is good if you can find it, 5-HTP, GABA, passionflower, or scullcap might be tried. Homeopathy can provide some options for insomna or nerves.
Good luck. (Don't neglect meditation and breathing exercises).

If you are looking for something natural to take try St. John's Wort- although this is a natural drug check on line for any drug interactions. You may need a low dose anti depressant such as lexapro to get you through. Try Yoga for a relaxation techique, it really works.

okay in my opinion the besy way to relieve stress is to:
1. take a hot bath with bubbles and lavander scented stuff(the scent is supposed to be relaxing-aromatherepy)
2.either hang out with your best buds or you sweety and talk about it
3.sleep
I suggest just trying to relax a lot of the stress that causes health problems is usually all in you head, jus chill one night and watch a movie or take a break that is all you really need to do if you have the time and are able to.

try to stay away from medications they can become addictive. Try things such as relaxation techniques, aromatic candles, long hot baths, going swimming, to the beach, just enjoying life.
