Why are Parmenides ideas that the world is motionless and that nothing doesn't exist so hard to dismiss?

Because everything is relative to ourselves.

Since we are moving with the world, it doesn't appear that the world is spinning at terrific speeds.

It's hard for us to understand how nothing doesn't exist because we so rarely encounter nothingness.
