She is a great talk show host and a very shrewd business woman but the fluff she deals in on her TV show will not fly on the world scene. What is she going to do about the terrorists? Invite them to join her book club, recite Maya Angelou and then give them a free prayer rug?

Oprah is a television personality. And while I like her and her show, I really don't think that being on television and in the movies qualifies you to be President of the United States. She has not held any other government positions, and she hasn't really expressed any interest in the position.

She is charismatic, and she does well on television and in the press. But does she know domestic policy? How about world government transactions? And commander and chief of the military?

No. I would not vote for her. Even though the joker in the white house now doesn't seem to know what is going on, Oprah would look totally clueless. I like her too much to put her in that position.

Are you kidding? Oprah is okay as she is. But she would make a terrible president. I think all these years of being worshipped by the masses has made her lose touch with reality. She has gone away from her roots and doesn't relate to the common person anymore. She has demonstrated this on numerous shows. She seems to forget that not everyone has the kind of money she has. I really dislike that about her.

The whole idea of having an icon for desperate housewives as president is even more pathetic than having Bush! How much worse can US politics get?

seriously, she'd do better than bush, but that still doesnt mean she's qualified. she's just as full of sh!t as anyone else out there. i know 2 ppl that met her on 2 separate occasions that said she refused to give "normal people" the time of day.

she's just as phony as any politician.
my vote still goes to Stewart/Colbert in '08!

No. She makes a lot of decisions based on public opinion just to keep her name sweet smelling. Don't get me wrong, i do like her though. She should be a philanthropist instead of a politician.

Nope. Any idiot can host a talk show. Vanessa from Cosby, for example.

If you want a talk show host for president, then pick Jerry Springer.

better her than Hillary Clinton! another answer I just read said no because she makes decisions based on public opinion...um...name a politician that doesn't...and besides, they are supposed to be our representative, right? by the people...for the people...I would have to know her stance on gun control (I am against it) and some other issues before i could decide, but based on what I know now, I think she could be a good candidate.

Yes cause she could outsmart a Republican or Democrat any day. So could Will Smith and Whoopi Goldberg.
