As consumers, what should we do in order to decrease the work for the recycling factory? Shall we need to seperate the different kind of plastic before we send it to the factory? And anything else?

Our recycling doesn't need to be seperated. They just dump it all into the same truck.

I'm on a green team for my place of employment and went on a tour of a recycling plant. Although they like the glass separated from the rest and real cardboard separated from paper and thin cardboard (like cereal and other product boxes), they just prefer the other stuff (cans, plastics) to be in bags, but not separated. It gets dumped into a big pile anyway.

Only one they won't recyle is #6, like styrofoam. Some companies are different, but most of the separation rules seem to be imposed by city collection programs, not the companies.

Where I live all plastic and glass are picked up together in the same truck.
