Sometimes when they come over I have to get off the phone and let them use it.. How can I tell them to get their own damn telephone without being mean.... I mean they come over and use it like it's their phone having long conversations and everything.

-OMG. Just say no. That would stop in about a day for me. I hate moochy people. Too lazy to go get a damn job to pay their own bills. They probably had one & it got shut off cuz they didn't pay the bill. Say no, slam the door, end of story.

Sometimes you have to be very upfront and to the point, even it it hurts people feelings or makes them upset. Tell them you are sorry no hard feelings but they can only use the phone for emergancys only.

Also give them a list of telephone companies they may not have a phone book. Tell them they can use your phone to call them and set it up if they need to.

If they get up set that is not your problem. I know it may be hard I am just like you. But sometimes you have to just stand your ground or they will walk all over you.

No one can walk all over you unless you lay down and let them. Just explain that you don't mind them using it in an emergency, but otherwise you are busy and "isn't there a payphone down at the corner?" Its probably going to cause some hard feelings with the neighbors, but if you don't stop it now it will only get worse.
